CPAP masks are used to help you cope with sleep apnea. They come with air supplying machine, a hose and nasal or facial mask. Although it is not a cure of any kind of sleep apnea, it surely helps you in sleeping peacefully. There are many people who are troubled by CPAP masks. This is especially true for those who are using this machine for the first time. Here are solutions to most common problems faced by users while they are wearing their masks.
Bothering size and difficulty in getting used to it:
This one is most common ailment. Although the products are mostly applied with an adjustment mechanism, most of the people just simply don’t avail this opportunity. As a result there is an ill fitted mask. Thus they feel very inconvenient while sleep making their sleep apnea worse. Also the problem of dry mouth becomes worse.
Solution:
Fit your CPAP mask according to your face or nasal size. Wear it while you are still going to wake for an hour or more. This practice will help you in getting used to the product. Also you should keep in mind that the size you were using in your old mask is not going to work with your new one, so keep adjusting your mask according to your needs.
Pressure of the air:
Most of the people feel air pressure very annoying. As a result they complain claustrophobic and of dry nose. This is due to the air pressure that can be set accordingly. Again here it is needed that you must make adjustment according to your own size.
Solution:
To get rid of claustrophobia, first practice with your mask in small intervals. Use it while you are going to take a nap. At first try lower air pressure and then gradually increase it to the level where you feel yourself comfortable. It is evident that dry nose is mostly due to loosely fitted mask and this issue could be settled by adjusting your mask. Low air pressure will also help you to cope with the situation. If the condition persists tell your doctor and they will give you special spray for your nasal strips.
Irritating Noise:
It is found that some of the CPAP machines produce noise. Although all of the new machines are up to dated and are almost silent, a few of the old machines are still causing irritable noise.
Solution:
Clean the air way and make sure that there isn't anything blocking the way of air. If all is well with the passage way but the noise is still coming contact your doctor or the manufacturer from whom you have bought the product and tell them about the problem. If possible you can also replace you CPAP mask.
